Alafia, formerly known as Vital BDC Redevelopment is a new urban development organization in East New York.
Challenge
The word, Alafia, which represents wellness and peace in the Yoruba language. Alafia asked for a logo that conveyed these themes in addition to being inspired by the neighborhood of East New York.
The Solution
The font and color palette choice is inspired by the historical significance of Art Deco architecture in the East Brooklyn area, pride of the roots many people/families of color have planted in the neighborhood and the importance of the collective work being done to enrich the community.
